Fun Days 2012

The weekend after the 4th of July was North Mankato Fun Days and the Burdorf's along with Grandpa Larry and Linda came for a visit. One of the biggest highlights was our trip to the watch the 2 hour parade. Again, there was more candy collected than any reasonable person should need to consume but it was fun collecting it.
After the parade we hit up the midway. The kids all enjoyed a ride on the merry go rounds and giant slide. I decided to take Maddox on the Octopus ride and he screamed/cried the entire time however, when it was over, he wanted to ride again.

We decided to let the kids "camp" together in Maddox's room. They enjoyed movie nights and had a great time just sleeping in the same room. Oddly enough the Burdorf kids were alseep 5 minutes after the movie started and Maddox was still wide eyed taking it all in..........

After the parade on Saturday the kids enjoyed a dip in the pool. Bowen LOVED splashing in the water and I know he can't wait to be part of the "big kid" crowd.

For some adult fun we enjoyed a bags tournament and hanging out in the backyard. Always great to get together and see how much fun our kids can have and trouble they can cause. Wonder what it will be like in10- 15 years.................

4th of July Celebration

Daddy had to work on the 4th of July this year so Maddox and I went to Iowa to celebrate. We hit up the fireworks on Spirit Lake on the 3rd and Maddox wasn't impressed- ha! April and he plugged their ears while Cody and I made fun of them. What else is new?!

We all enjoyed the parade in Armstrong where Madman waived at all the pretty girls (just like his Daddy) and scored more candy than anyone could or should ever eat!

And then we headed to the Lakes to enjoy the rest of the afternoon/evening on the water. We've been lucky enough to watch the fireworks on a boat the past few years and Tim invited us again this year which was great! The unfortunate part was that Maddox was pretty tuckered out so he slept on the seat for a bit (actually it was probably a good thing!)

When he finally perked up a bit, he took to driving. Tim is very patient because after the 4 complete circle, I was over it. Oh, and he found the horn.......... I hope no one was worried about us! :)

 I love my little boy!

Gunderson Family Pic time- It's been years since all 5 of us were together on the 4th.

We missed Daddy but I am sure working was tons of fun. The good news is, next year he gets to be with us! YAY! Thanks Tim for the fun on the boat!

Denver, Colorado Trip

I know summer is in full swing when I head out on a LEEP Vacation. The first one of this summer was taking a group to Denver, Co.I can honestly say this particular vacation turned out to be one of my top 3 vacations I have ever been on with a LEEP group.

We left around 3:30am on Monday and got back around dinner time on Friday, June 29. Though I have been to Colorado a few times,I had never really spent any time in Denver so this was a new experience for me as well. We spent some time at the Denver Zoo, hung out at the Hard Rock on 16th Street, took a trip up Loveland's Pass, chilled (literally) in Breckenridge and just enjoyed the laid back lifestyle everyone had on the trip.

Love me some giraffes... no trip to the zoo is complete for me w/out
seeing these beauties!

I mentioned going up Loveland's Pass was a highlight, and it was, but it was also an unexpected trip Our group had planned to go to Pike's Peak however, we were there during some of the worse wildfires in Colorado history. Because of this our plans changed and we rented a van and drove to Breckenridge instead. Anyway, we headed west but on the way we found out that the Eisenhower Tunnel had a car fire and we couldn't go through which is how we ended up on Loveland's Pass. To say I as a nervous wreck would be a bit of an understatement BUT we made it and the view was amazing.

On the final day in Denver we loaded up for a tour on Banjo Billy's bus and it was AWESOME! If you are ever in Denver, take the 90 minutes and jump on board.

All in all, loved the trip and hope to go back again really soon!
