Sprinklers

Hasn't this summer been crazy!? I can't believe we were out running through the sprinkler on May 27. I usually associate that weekend with a freezing my buns off but not this year!
Daddy was sleeping in preparation for our trip to Frontenac. To say Maddox was in hog heaven might be an understatement!

Special Olympics Torch Ride 2012

Saturday was the 6th Annual Torch Ride Fundraiser for our Special Olympics Team here in Mankato. I have been involved for the past 5 years but this year was the first time I got to ride along on a bike.
My dad and family friend Tim, drove up from Iowa (despite the rain!) to join in on the fun. Justin and Maddox came along too as our support vehicle. Most of these photos are thanks to him and he had some great bones to work with when it came to editing. He caught unique views and great snapshots.

Each stop I rotated who I rode with between my dad and Tim. I had a great time! I have never gotten to ride a motorcycle for a full day before and it really is quite a bit of fun. (don't tell Justin I said that, he'll make me "let" him get one)

Despite the quick rain shower before we left, the weather held out. Sunny and windy- not too shabby. (even if the crosswind made things a bit iffy here and there!)

Wish my eyes would have been more open but either way, it was great to have Maddox and JR there to support us.

Our team!

A snap shot at the end of the ride. The grand total is a tough call as it wavered between 40-50 riders. All in all a successful day!

Circus, Circus

Last week the Circus came to town. I had just been thinking about how fun it would be to take Maddox to one so I didn't want to miss out. Before the show started, Maddox and Daddy went to check out all the fun that was right outside the ring. Maddox enjoyed himself on the blowup slide, got his first solo ride on a pony and got to feed some animals at the petting zoo which included a zebra!
The show started with motorcycles going round and round in a large globe. It was pretty amazing to see and Maddox was sucked in.
And why not fill a 2 year old full of cotton candy?! He LOVED it. All in all it was a fun night even if I was a bit disappointed... They sure don't make the Circus like they used to but I suppose that is just how it goes. On the flip side, I am happy Maddox was able to see his first circus.

85 Years.... Celebrate!

My Grandma Alice turned 85 on May 11th. What a milestone! We celebrated as a family on the 12th and it was great to get together. I hadn't seen one of my cousin's for a few years so it was nice to see him. Grandma was so happy that all of us could be there. Unfortunately we couldn't stay too long (I had to work that night) but I think we still helped make her day special.

Maddox loved the fruit plate, we couldn't keep him away!

Maddox is getting away!

Mother's Day

This year's Mother's Day was low key but honestly, I loved it. For years, all I wanted was to become a mother and now that I am one, it is one of my favorite days.

The day started with sleeping in and then it was off to do some family bonding- SHOPPING! I got to pick out my new flowers for our flowerbeds and flowerpots. There is a greenhouse here in town that I could spend hours in. I wandered the aisles and learned a lot about lots of plants. I was secretly thinking it would be fun to get a job there...Honestly, I just love having my hands in dirt and seeing what I can come up with. To say I may go overboard with the flowers may be accurate. :)

After a full afternoon we headed home and got busy. JR and Maddox both helped me mix up the dirt and plant our beautiful beauties. (pics will have to come later... never look good till they start growing buds.)

The day was a huge success and I will carry the memories with me forever.
