Gorilla Fun Run

Over the weekend JR and I did something I never thought I would say I had done. We ran in a 2.4 mile race in gorilla suits. You read that right, gorilla suits!

I am a board member for the Miracle League of North Mankato and was going to the fundraiser to help with the registration table but when I arrived I found out I wasn't needed anymore. Justin had been saying that he thought it would be fun to do so when the opportunity came, we took it. I had invited my parents up to see it (and we had to switch vehicles) so they came and hung with Maddox while we made the trek.

Honestly it was a very cool experience. We started at Minnesota State's campus and ended up at Buster's Bar (2.4 miles). There were approximately 450 gorillas running the streets of Mankato. Probably what was the most fun was watching the cars drive by and the expression of drivers and passengers. There were plenty of honks, lots of waves, and tons of laughs!
On the way to Busters there were lots of fun and games. Several gorillas were climbing trees, wrestling and just going bananas. When all was said and done, the initial total was reported at approximately $17,500 which is amazing!

Best part of the whole deal is Justin finally gets his long awaited gorilla suit

Birthday Bash

We made our way to State Center for the annual Burdorf Birthday Bash during the last weekend in March. Lots happened but since I am so far behind, I think I will let the photos do the talking! :)

We were introduced to a new game while we were waiting for lunch. We played Fowling (I think) which was pretty fun. Since I am not overly accurate with a football, I am not sure how much fun it really was for me. (I may be a wee bit competitive! *wink, wink!)

The kids had a blast and I just love this picture of the boys. Brody just looks like he is up to something and Maddox is soon to follow...........

The boys helping to set the game up

Aubrey Ann, quite the little character! She just made me laugh all day long

Addy and Jenna

Madman taking over with the football. He was going to play whether or not he was supposed to.

Bowen wasn't digging the wait for present opening.

Blake was content as could be playing with his birthday bag

I think it may be time to really talk about the idea of pretend food.....

After present opening the adults headed off for their annual game of men vs women volleyball game. This year the competition was fierce as usual but unfortunately no one can agree who won. You can read more about it and see photos here on the Burdorf Family Blog. This year was the first year we have ever not had someone on the women's team that wasn't pregnant. Pretty impressive actually!

When the competition ended, we headed back to the house for some cake and munchies. Everyone was so worn out that we all pretty much called it quits and headed for our respective hotels. As usual, the weekend was a blast! Thanks again to the Burdorf's for celebrating in style!

New Stuff

Justin and I have been talking about making Maddox a swing set but we never decided when. Oddly enough our backyard neighbor/Justin's co-worker was looking to get rid of theirs and offered it to us. To say Maddox was excited would be an understatement. He went around yelling "new stuff!, look at my new stuff!
Papa happened to be in town the night we moved the "tree house" to our side of the bushes

Mommy put the slide up because she got tired of Maddox jumping out of the treehouse before it was all put together

Bear is never one to be left out. Didn't take him 10 minutes to figure out his way up to be with everyone.

And his way down
