Little Family Getaway

After a long few weeks at work, I decided to take some vacation days last week so we could get away. JR and I had been talkin' about taking Maddox to a small water park of sorts and let him swim. As you can see he was pretty pumped to get wet!

We found a place up in the cities near the Albertville Outlet Center and when we showed Maddox all that he could do, we couldn't pull him away.

Daddy and Maddox getting doused by the buckets of water

On Monday we spent the day shopping and found some great deals. I had my eye on a bag from the Coach Store but couldn't fork over the cash..... bummer! Justin said shopping isn't what he would consider as relaxing but I thought the day went pretty well.

Tuesday we all just hung out at home and enjoyed the beautiful weather which was just fine by me!  After all the fun that we had, I just might have to take some more time off to enjoy some relaxing days with my boys.

St Patrick's Day 2012

We spent St. Patrick's Day down in Ringsted and Emmetsburg. Nana got us up early Saturday morning to show us the newest additions to the Gunderson Farm. There are 4 baby kitties hiding under the protective mama.
Before we headed south for the parade I talked my dad in to a ride on his new bike. To say I enjoy riding would be an understatement.
The helmet is sort of a joke but thought it was fitting for the ride. :)

Maddox and Nana were scoping out the good spots to catch the candy and beads being thrown during the parade.

Papa and Madman just chillin'

Awwwwwwwww daddy-o

Can't miss a chance to pose by a favorite ride. Maddox loved the ride

After the parade we went to visit Great Grandma and Great Aunt Inx at Parc Hall. I think both were pleasantly surprised by the hugs and kisses Maddox had in store.

Saturday night Justin and I hung in E'burg on our own while Maddox, Nana, and Papa enjoyed a fun evening of watching donkey basketball. We did our round on the Dublin Express and checked out some local establishments but were home by 10. I think our age is catching up to us!

Don't Say That

Maddox is so funny these days! Well..... most of the time. He talks very well and it is nice to be able to have actual conversations with him. On the flip side what can be so fun can also be extremely frustrating. Ever try to reason with a 2 year old. Yeah, not fun!

Typical conversations between the two of us go like this.

Me: "Maddox, put away your cars."
Maddox: "Mom, don't say that!"

or my favorite: "Mom, don't say that word!" -can we say frustrating? And to be fair, I have no idea where he learned that. Thankfully he hasn't picked up too many bad words (I am trying, I swear!) so we don't really know why/how he heard that.

BUT to hear him say "I love you too, Mama." just melts my heart.

Some other favorite phrases these days include:
* "I wanna play toys."
* "Because!" (love this when I ask him why he's doing something he shouldn't.
* "Well, ok Mama/Daddy"
* "I wanna watch Umi Zumi/Mickey/Handy Manny/ whatever he can name at the moment"

And the tattling! It is never ending. "Mom, Bear is sitting on the couch. Mom, Daddy won't let me watch Mickey Mouse. Dad, Mom is drinking juice." and so on. I think you get the picture!

But here is one for the books. One night we were all sitting down to dinner and Maddox wouldn't listen to me. He wasn't using his fork or spoon and I was getting after him. He and I went back and forth and after about the 3rd reminder Maddox turned to Justin and said "Dad, Mommy's being bossy!"

Ah, the things kids say............

Painters Alley

A few weeks ago I bought some supplies to paint canvas' but Maddox and I hadn't gotten around to actually doing them. Finally today we got around to it.

He was pretty pumped about painting on the canvas

But not thrilled about paint getting on his hands, face, and shirt.... I spent more time cleaning him off than he did painting. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Our creations!

All in all, the project turned out pretty well.

Family Fishin

Justin's hope for this winter was to get our family together to go ice fishing. It came to fruition last weekend when Justin's dad and Linda came for a visit. We headed out to the lake Saturday morning and spent the better part of the day on the ice.

When we arrived JR and JB had our camp all set up. The rest of us walked out to them and we didn't realize how loud the ice popped when it was making new ice. Honestly, the novice that I am, I thought it was bass playing from someones spot. When I realized what it was it completely freaked me out. Probably not as bad as when I felt the ice shift below me.

Maddox's first catch!

Grandpa Larry had never been ice fishing before. Here's his first catch!

Whatcha got, Dad?

Nice Sunny JB

After a few hours Maddox was over fishing and he started rolling on the ice....... yeah we didn't get it either!

Here are the holes I kept up with

"What's in there JB?"
