Giving Thanks

2009 has been a year that has been wonderful for our family. As you all know we were blessed with Maddox Robert on October 20th and are the proudest parents that have ever walked this earth! I try to be humble but there is just something about being a mommy that has filled my heart with so much joy and pride that I never knew was possible. We have so many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving and I can't let the day go by without acknowledging some of the other things we are thankful for.

This year I am thankful for:
  • THE GIFT OF MOTHERHOOD
  • OUR FAMILY
  • OUR FRIENDS
  • OUR HEALTH
  • OUR FAITH
  • OUR HOME
  • OUR JOBS
  • OUR HAPPINESS

Happy Thanksgiving!

Show Me Those Baby Blues

Mommy got excited today and couldn't help but do a mini photo shoot of Maddox in his baby blue monkey print sleeper. His eyes were really popping and BLUE but unfortunatly the flash drowns them out a bit. Please just humor me and but don't miss the monkey feet!!

Gotta love the monkey feet!!!

OK Mom, enough already!!!

Aunt Ali Comes to Visit

Last Friday we went up to Minneapolis to pick up my sister Ali so she could meet Maddox. It was Maddox's first car ride and he did great!! Anyway, Ali was here and helped out a lot around here. She and Maddox got to know one another really well and it allowed Mommy and Daddy a few hours of extra sleep. She did her best to spoil him and I would say she did a pretty good job! She stayed with us till Wednesday and I really enjoyed her being here.

Great Grandparents

When I was growing up I never had any Great Grandparents so I am really glad that Maddox has them. (My Great Grandpa passed away when I was about 2-3 months old) While we were in Iowa we also stopped and introduced him to Great Grandma and Grandpa Beadle in Swea. It was really great to be able to sit and visit as we haven't seen them for awhile.

We also took a quick Four Generation picture with my Grandma. I wanted to make sure this was done so Maddox had it when he was older. I hope to get one done with all of his Great Grandparents here in the next few weeks/months. Here is picture #1:

Maddox's Baby Shower

Saturday morning we headed down to Ringsted for Maddox's Baby Shower. Before the shower he was lucky enough to get to meet his cousins Jenna and Brody and his Aunt Jamie! It was fun to see the kids around him and I am glad Jamie got to cuddle with him.

The shower was amazing. Everyone was so sweet to Maddox and he really got a lot of nice things. He will definitely be one of the best dressed babies in Mankato! Thanks to all that came to meet him, we appreciate everything you all have done for us!!

This picture is Jamie reciting the "things heard on the night of conception" game. She had been writing down things that I said while opening presents and then used them for the game. Some of them were pretty funny. One of the best was " look at those monkey feet" and "he isn't really going to be that big is he?"

3 Weeks Already!?

I can't believe that Mr. Maddox is already 3 weeks old. He has really come into his own little personality and has gotten really strong. It amazes me everyday how much more control he is getting with his head and neck.

He enjoys a little tummy time but after about 5-10 minutes he is ready to turn over. I keep waiting for him to throw himself over because when he is on his back he will get up on one side and kind of sway like he is going to go over but doesn't. I realize this is very early so I am not getting excited, I would say I am more nervous that he will do it when I am not looking or expecting it.

We are working on a "schedule" but obviously it all takes time. I am trying lots of different things to keep him up during the day to hopefully eliminiate some of the fussy time between 11:00 pm- 2:00 am. He is usually a very happy baby but for some reason during that time he throws some major fits. We are slowly figuring out what makes him "tick" so yay for small miracles!

First Combine Ride

Since we were going down to Iowa we decided that Maddox had to have his first ride in a combine. My dad was helping out Bob McConnell north of Armstrong so we swung by for a quick visit. Maddox is already quite the farmer!!

We lucked out and got to see Greg, Logan, and Bob as well!

First Roadtrip

Tonight Maddox and I are headed to Minneapolis to pick up my sister at the airport. She is flying home from Washington DC to meet Mr. Maddox for the first time. I know she is excited but not as excited as we are! She is staying with us through next Wednesday so she will get to spend some major quality time with her new nephew.

Tomorrow we head to Ringsted for Maddox's baby shower. I can't wait to see everyone and I am really excited introduce Maddox as well. It should be a good weekend! I will get pictures uploaded when we get back!

Just Can't Decide

Maddox didn't want to disappoint either one of us on Sunday so rather than choosing Green Bay exclusively as his team, he decided to split himself in half.....
Gotta love split households!!!

First Halloween

Maddox didn't get out on Halloween but that didn't stop Mommy from getting him all dressed up anyway! He was the cutest pumpkin in the patch if I do say so myself.

Justin and I usually go all out on Halloween but I wasn't really feeling it this year... As you can see JR didn't pass up the opportunity to support his German heritage and went as a Lederhosen this year. Sounds like he had a lot of fun but he was home pretty early.... I think he missed me. (wink wink!)

Maddox Pics

Here is one of the Birth Announcements that I made

"Mom GET ME OUT OF HERE!"

Hangin out in my favorite chair.

Mommy is finally starting to look somewhat normal and doesn't have the crazy huge fluid filled face anymore so she had to share this photo! Also, check out the baby mohawk, I LOVE IT!

Hawkeye Family

I need to grow into my Hawkeye stuff but I feel pretty sweet rocking it out anyways

Flashing my big blues. Somebody is going to fall hard for those eyes just like Mommy did for Daddy's....

Maddox 2 Week Appointment

Today we had Maddox's 2 week appt. where we found out that he has gained almost 1 lb since birth! I am not surprised though cuz he loves to eat!!! :) He makes the funniest noises when he wants to eat- almost sounds like a little piggy with all of his snorting.

His little personality is starting to really shine through and it is so fun to see him change every day. Don't get me wrong I hate that he is growing so fast but since I know I can't freeze time I love seeing him figure out new things. Maddox is such a little cuddle bug too.... I LOVE how snuggly he is and will hate it when he doesn't want to do that anymore.

His sleeping and eating schedules are kind of all over the place which stinks. About the time I think I have something figured out he changes again. I know this is totally normal, it is just frustrating! :) Last night the little stinker fought me for about 3 hours on going to bed but then when I finally got him down (for the final time) he slept for 6 straight hours. It totally freaked me out when I woke up this morning and realized he hadn't woken up in the middle of the night. On the other hand, the 6 hours of sleep for Mom was MUCH APPRECIATED!
