Harvest in Iowa

This fall has definitely not been ideal for my family and their harvest. October was a terrible month full of rain and just icky, icky days. To top it off they had a bin fire early on in the season leaving them one dryer bin short thus, creating LOTS of headaches surrounding where they would be able to dry their corn. They could combine a day to fill a bin, hall grain out of another bin to make room for the next days crop, and then start all over again. Because of this they have been racing against Mother Nature all season long to get things out and the ground worked before it has frozen too much.

As I type this I am waiting for the tractor to fill up with gas so I can head out to work ground again. This has been what I have been up to most of the last 2-3 weeks.... Maddox and I have retreated to Iowa quite a bit to help out where we could. He did more of the "I'm cute, play with me routine" while I worked. I am hoping to get one of the last fields finished today while my parents finish up the corn harvest. Wish us luck on this and hopefully we will be able to finish and FINALLY call it a year.
